When Jen had casually asked me if I would want to practice shooting at their wedding, I did not hesitate. I of course researched like crazy about the “do's and don'ts”. With the photographer’s permission I began to formulate a plan of action on how I’m going to approach the wedding day. This would be my first unofficial shoot with my first dslr that was purchased a month ago. I am fully aware that I still have a lot to improve on. I have this concern of having the “uncle bob” tendencies so I did my best to stay out of the way during the formal shots and refrained from taking photos during the ceremony, As a result no reactions shots from me. Besides, I was doing some reacting myself. That's what happens when you witness your friends get married!
The day starts with a cool breeze. I began to think about the poor gentlemen who would have to give up their suits to keep us ladies from getting cold. I turned to my husband and I figured I’ll do him a favor and bring my blazer; I’m just thoughtful like that. But as soon as I got off the car to meet the bride at the hotel, the warmth of the sun on my skin makes it the perfect day for our friends, Jen and Charles to be married. As the groom anxiously awaits his lovely bride, he also couldn't wait to see the light of his life, their daughter Maya. She is so adorable with her attempts to sit with her parents at the altar during the ceremony.
Drinks are flowing when the best man jokes about wondering for so many years if this day will ever come. Charles was waiting for a woman who gets him and that is Jen. Surrounded by family and friends who are all thrilled for these two to have found each other, we danced and enjoyed ourselves. This is a crowd that definitely knows how to celebrate a day such as this. It will be one of those nights to be remembered for many years to come.
